Update on Justin Combs Football Recruit, P.Diddy's son

For those interested in seeing a video on Justin Combs on the football field, I'm providing the link below from youtube.  This is Sean P. Diddy Comb's son.  Read an earlier blog post about him being recruited by Division 1 schools.  Looks like he's still got some work to do, but could be a good recruit in the end.

Thoughts on 2012 Kansas City Royals All-Star Game Logo

The Kansas City Royals today announced the logo for the Mid-Summer Classic in 2012. 

The logo says "Kansas City Royals" when you look at it.  The crown on top along with the Royal's Blue colors is a perfect setting for the 2012 All-Star game. 

The 2012 All-Star game will turn out to be successful in most areas but the question probably remains, would have it been better if it was at a downtown park in Kansas City?

The travel to Kauffman Stadium to downtown(I assume they will have most activities in the downtown) wont be an easy trip for anyone trying to catch the at the park activties along with the All-Star event and festivities of the week.  I'm sure we will all wait to see what will happen and take place.  I love the the stadium as it is now, its a beautiful park, but do I wish it was downtown at certain times?  Yes I do.  There's not much to do at the stadium where it is now after the game, where if it was downtown, you can stroll along and find something to do if you so choose.

I guess this is the perfect opportunity for Kansas City to show off their town but most of all, to show off why they chose to keep a stadium where it was instead of building something new, something downtown.  Here's the opportunity for the city leaders as well as the Royals organization, I hope they make the most of it.  I'll enjoy it either way most likely, but like many, I'll probably wonder... what if???

Sean "P.Diddy" Combs Son, Justin, a Possible Iowa Hawkeye?

Can you imagine a Hawkeye game at Kinnick stadium with Tom Arnold, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, and now possibly P.Diddy all in attendance?

It actually seems like this kid actually might be a really good player as Illinois has already offered a scholarship and has done well against some good receivers in high school.  In the article, it says that the Hawkeyes as well as the Cyclones and others are also interested in him.

But here's a thought, Iowa's making strides at becoming more and more recognizable by the national media for their recent years of continous success.  But they still are not at the top and haven't been able to bring in top 5 star recruits when up against many other top programs.  Obviously, Ferentz and his staff have done more than most by getting the most out of their 2,3, and 4 star athletes.  Sometimes things haven't worked, but they have created some top level talent from kids that others didn't think too highly of.  Bringing in a kid like Combs could be a scholarship that might be worth it on a public relations point. Can you imagine the possiblitiy of P.Diddy or other music stars, producers, others wearing Hawkeye gear(hats, shirts, etc.)? 

This may be one scholarship that has value even if he somewhat fails.  It could produce more free advertising than any other recruits could during their stay at a university or college.  Could there also be issues or failures? I'm aware there could be.  I guess it's something Iowa and other schools will have to decide.

Just a quick thought, can you imagine an in-home visit between Ferentz and P.Diddy discussing Justin Combs?  It would be great if that could be shown on the Big-Ten network?  I'm suprised P.Diddy hasn't discussed a show with MTV yet on featuring a show called "Recruiting Justin Combs".  It may be a violation but hip-hop may not be my thing, but I'm sure I would tune-in to watch if he Justin choose the Black and Gold cap at the end.

Former Hawkeye Ricky Stanzi at Chiefs Training Camp

Stanzi Nation has came to St Joseph, Missouri for Chiefs Training Camp 2011.

If he starts to struggle, maybe he needs to get the arm bracelets back on. 

The best future line of maybe a KC hero I've heard so far (Thanks to a twitter post from Brad M.) is Stanzi City!

So is Kansas City read for Stanzi City or is Stanzi City ready to invade Kansas City!

Today's Class Act Goes To Matt Cassel

It was very hot day at Missouri Western University for the Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp as practice began at 3:00pm.  I showed up early enough to catch some photos and view some of the happenings around the training camp before I watched the players trickle onto the field.  For a small $5.00 fee for parking, you can attend the training camp and watch the players at a very close view-point.  If your an autograph seeker, many of the players sign at certain points but enjoy the football aspect of the camp and if you get a star player's autograph, consider it a bonus to your day.

I want to share a small story of today's highlight of camp.  It wasn't on the field, it was right before camp started.  The quarterback from the Kansas City Chiefs, Matt Cassel, was walking down the cement path towards the field when a little girl, probably 4-5 years old started saying "Matt Cassel" loudly from on top of her dad's shoulders.  Many of the fans around felt the warmth of this child's voice as she said "Matt Cassel" a few more times.  You heard the crowd suddenly respond with an "awwwww".  It even got to Matt as to hear the girls voice among the chattering fans as well.  Matt grinned with a big smile and looked at the girl and even had a bigger smile.  He looked at the rest of the crowd and said, "Hey I'll sign for the rest of you after practice, but right now I got to practice but I am going to sign for her".  It was the right thing for Matt Cassel to do.  From a back-up role on the Patriots to now the man-in-charge the past year as the QB of the Kansas City Chiefs, he still has a heart for at least some of his most adorable fans.  I've seen other so-called bigger stars in other sports and other teams, acknowledge with a smile and a wave, but not for Matt Cassel this time.  He signed the little girl's football and than went off to practice. 

This is what the NFL needs right now, after a long labor negotiation that could of turned-away many fans, Matt Cassel made one fan feel real special.  I didn't hear any complaints that he only signed for her as I think the whole crowd was touched by this one girl.  Matt made the whole situation right by signing for the right person in the crowd at that very moment.  If anyone deserved an autograph from Matt at that time, it was the little girl.  It was almost like I got an autograph of Matt Cassel's with this story I am writing to all of you.  Maybe you had to be there to feel the moment, maybe you have to appreciate a players interaction with the fan like this, maybe the NFL needs more of this... or maybe I'm just a sucker for the little kid's hopes and dreams like Matt was today...  It really doesn't matter... as today in my book, Matt Cassel, was a class act.
